06 FEBRUARY 2012 – DiscountVouchers.co.uk, the leading money-saving website home to deals for more than 800 stores, has conducted a new poll into the spending habits of British consumers. The research showed that one in four Brits don’t know how much money their partner brings home each month.

The poll’s results showed that 27.25% of Brits who took part in the poll has no knowledge at all of what their partner’s salary is. Furthermore the survey found that twice as many women as men have their own private bank accounts in which to keep money hidden – 8% of women compared with 4% of male respondents.

The DiscountVouchers.co.uk poll also asked about whether people have lied about what they pay for new outfits, with 43% of women saying that they have compared with 17% of men. The main motivation behind this was reported to be a guilty conscience.

The voucher codes specialist commissioned the research to gauge spending habits among UK consumers, and also found that 4 in 10 Brits often open and read their loved one’s bank and credit card statements. 10% however said that they never even bother opening or reading even their own credit card and bank statements.

Psychologist Dr Penny Goldsbrough says: “This kind of behaviour is more commonplace than most people think, and it’s typically in the sort of people who have low self-esteem and a fear of the unknown. In addition not trusting a partner means indulging in habits like opening partners’ bank statements and having personal, private bank accounts in which to keep money away from a loved one.”

Dr Goldsbrough goes on: “Many women replicate their mother’s behaviour in being secretive about their finances, it is a maternal trait. However we do also see a standard level of guilt about spending money in most people – yet being a spendthrift is nonetheless a common human trait.”

DiscountVouchers.co.uk helps Brits to save using money off vouchers for more than 800 of the country’s most famous on and offline retailers.

Online price comparator sees UK tourists heading for sunshine breaks rather than ski trips this February

2 FEBRUARY 2012 – Brits are looking for warm weather breaks this February half term rather than ski trips, according to Comparecarhire.co.uk. The online car hire price comparison specialist has seen a spike in bookings for warmer places over the past few weeks.

Comparecarhire.co.uk says that people are comparing and then booking rental deals in hotter destinations this February, with places like Portugal, Spain, Greece and Miami the most popular. This time last year travellers and tourists were taking half term breaks in places such as the UK and Switzerland.

Andy Hemmington, spokesperson for Comparecarhire.co.uk, says: “February sometimes means trips to the coast or to ski resorts, but this year’s cold winter and snowy weather has seen Brits booking trips to the sunshine instead. We know that people’s budgets are still tight but good value car hire can be had through comparing deals online.”

“One good way to save money on rentals is to think about booking a deal which you pick up downtown in your destination rather than on arrival at the airport.”

Brits travelling to the sun this half term can source hire deals from just £3 a day on Comparecarhire.co.uk. The site also offers deals like one week’s car hire from Malaga Airport from £3* per day, from £4* per day at Faro, from £9* per day in Crete, and from £14* per day at Miami Airport.

Comparecarhire.co.uk is one of the leading car hire comparison websites in the UK, allowing users to compare car hire prices for over 40 suppliers in 15,000 locations worldwide including Spain, Portugal and Greece, with pick up locations for car hire Malaga deals and car hire Murcia bookings.

As we move into the business end of the Football season a clear betting market has been established. Manchester rivals

As we move into the business end of the Football season a clear betting market has been established. Manchester rivals United and City dominate the betting and it is City that have moved to being the odds on (1/2) favourites after United (7/4) could only draw away at Chelsea on Sunday. The bookies only realistically see Tottenham Hotspur as being the only credible alternative to either Manchester United or Man City, and they are a best priced 16/1 with bet365 to catch them both and win the Premier League.

Bets.co.uk Football analyst Paul Speakman says “With the top three sides pulling clear from their league rivals, punters still have an opportunity to take advantage of generous bookies offers and place a free bet on the outcome on the Premier League”.

“There are several betting markets available on the Premier League. We also promote free bet offers on the top goalscorer, who will finish in the top four and which sides will be relegated”.

Bets.co.uk Top 5 Football Betting Markets

- To Win Premier League Title: Man Utd, Man City and Tottenham Hotspur are shortest odds to win the Premier League this year.

- To Be Relegated From Premier League: Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Wolves and QPR are the sides that the bookies feel could be going down.

- Premier League Top Goalscorer: Robin Van Persie, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Demba Ba continue to have their odds shortened by most bookmakers.

- To Finish Top Four in Premier League: Both Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle are the featured teams in this market.

- Euro 2012: Even though it’s at the end of the current Football season, manky UK bookmakers are already offering free bets on Euro 2012.

Bets.co.uk compares the latest betting offers from the major bookmakers. At the time of writing, customers can get free bets of up to £200 from trusted bookies. The free bets can be placed on a variety of sports. Football is the most popular choice, closely followed by Horse Racing. Other sports available are Golf, Cricket, Motor Racing and Tennis.

Despite the general economic uncertainty The Big Clean bucked the trend and has invested in two new websites dedicated to Persian, oriental and woollen rug cleaning and restoration.

With ten rug cleaning studios already the future is looking good for the new We Clean Any Rug and Pro Rug Cleaning brands.

Unlike most laundry companies and dry cleaners WCAR & PRC use age old techniques for washing rugs and never use a spin washing machine.

The Big Clean is the only importer of rug cleaning centrifuges and Rug Badger equipment and has been able to ensure that many of its members are using the absolute latest and best cleaning equipment capable of cleaning hundreds of flooded rugs each week.

Headquartered in Surrey, England we clean any rug and Pro Rug Cleaning have rug cleaning studios in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and are strategically placed to collect the rugs from dry cleaners and cleaning companies throughout the whole of the UK.

Due the increase in hard flooring replacing carpets The Big Clean has seen a large increase in the amount of rug cleaning that was required as rugs are often put in place after it is realised that hard floors are cold to walk on.

Founding members of We Clean Any Rug and Pro Rug Drying include franchise holder, past and present presidents and instructors for IICRC, NCCA and other cleaning related organisations. And as such many of the technicians that the company can call on are well known in their field and regarded as experts.

EAT / DRINK / ETC LAUNCHES – A FOOD AND BEVERAGE LIFESTYLE WEBSITE FOR GOURMETS

HONG KONG, 1st February, 2012 – Inside the name, behind the label, beyond the brand – this tagline aptly summarizes newly launched food and beverage lifestyle website EAT / DRINK / ETC (EDE ONLINE). Unlike existing food, beverage (F&B) or hotelier websites, www.eat-drink-etc.com is an interactive one-stop platform for F&B related information and resources. It is unique in that the same people contributing to the site are also its audience. The website is aimed at professionals – from chefs, makers, creators and executive level decision makers within the industry to hospitality students – as well as passionate consumers.

The designer interface of EDE ONLINE appeals to a modern readership that is passionate about the F&B lifestyle and culture. Topics range from product and brand showcases to features, trends, travel, personality profiles, art, media, education and events.

As founder Cyrille Stegmann describes, “Like many, my passion for food, beverage and cigars goes beyond personal taste. Branding methods engage me as much as a brand itself. How a brand is created. A label designed. A product tried, tested, enhanced. As a consumer, I find the more one knows, the better the experience is. This is the premise for EDE ONLINE – it is a passion for knowledge beyond taste.”

Yael Alaton, Strategy Director for Pearlfisher says, “EDE ONLINE is a unique site in that it manages to cover a broad variety of categories but also has the ability to target a niche and influential audience. This is a website that prides itself on the passion and interactive nature of its readership. It is organized in a modern and engaging way which makes it exciting for a design-savvy audience. We greatly look forward to seeing how it develops.”

Roberta Muir, who is manager of the prestigious Sydney Seafood School – Australia’s leading cooking school – and author of several books including the international 500 Cheeses also applauded the launch of EDE ONLINE, saying, “It is a one of a kind in terms of its design and content. I’m personally excited about the scope of the site – I have no doubt it will become the online Mecca for foodies the world-over.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Glenmorangie Whisky commented that, “The site looks brilliant; simply bursting with information!” And Al Chisolm, VP of Marketing Communications for Matusalem Rum gave very positive feedback about EDE ONLINE, “It has a completely fresh look. The editorial covers a variety of areas, but they all intertwine and relate to each other very nicely. All the content is informative and ensures good reader engagement.”

While EDE ONLINE is launching internationally it is also structured to include region-specific sections – all of which will be unveiled over the course of 2012. Regions include Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East.
